New Toy

Evan's parents gave Calvin this toy a while ago but he was too little to play with it. I pulled it out the other day though and he loves it!

At first he was a little unsure...

But then he realized how fun it was!

Cute little troublemaker

On Wednesday Calvin figured out how to dump out his toy box. Look how proud of himself he is!

Here he is helping us move:
I love that little boy!

Calvin has started babbling. He does it all day long and makes the funniest face while he is doing it. This video is too long but I am too lazy to edit it. Plus I don't know how to. Sorry.

A few images from the garden

We grew Armenian cucumbers in our garden this year. I was very impressed because they were crispy and tasty. I'd definitely grow them again. They do get very big though.
This is one of the two tomatoes we have gotten. It had bugs inside of it. Pathetic.

And isn't this carrot funny? I think it looks like a pair of woman's legs.

Book Lover

These pictures and video are from July, but we thought they were pretty funny. Evan was trying to read but Calvin would just follow him around and try to grab his book, making reading kinda hard.

Calvin and his dad

After dinner the other day Calvin was making some weird noises and Evan started having a weird noise conversation with him. It was pretty funny.

This picture belongs in the last post.

Isn't he cute?

Over the past few days Calvin has learned to pull himself up to standing position. Now he spends most of his day doing these things:
  • Crawling up to my feet and sitting on them
  • Trying to pull himself up on my leg
  • Pulling himself up on the stairs
  • Puling himself up on the boxes I am packing
  • Pulling himself up on our chairs
  • Eating every little speck of dust on the floor
  • Eating large pieces of cardboard and throwing them up
  • Crying for me to pick him up
  • Crying because he fell over when pulling himself up
  • Taking very short naps
  • Waking up at 6am: a little too early for me
  • Giving me the cutest smiles to melt my heart
  • Sleeping through the night

Oh yeah, and he has been able to do this for a while:

I've really got my hands full. But I sure do love that little guy.

We like Calvin

Evan and I decided that we like Calvin. I'd recommend having a baby.

Here are some more pictures Bruce took.
"Uhhh... I'm not sure I like going this high."

Very tired.

On the weekend of the 24th of July my brother Bruce came into town and we went to the airshow in Idaho Falls. It was a pretty long day, but we managed to avoid getting sunburned and Calvin survived, although I probably won't be taking a baby to an airshow again.

Here are the Blue Angels:
One way to keep Calvin out of the sun:

Calvin actually took a bottle that day. It was nice, since there really wasn't anywhere for me to nurse him.

This was the best part of the airshow: Some little boy's brother gave him the hugest wedgie ever and he stood there for 5 minutes picking it out. Then he tried unsuccessfully to give his brother a wedgie twice and so his brother said "I get to give you another wedgie since you gave me two." So the little boy stood there and let his brother give him another giant wedgie. It was hilarious to watch.
Bruce isn't in any of the pictures because he took them all. But he was there. It was fun to have him visit and Calvin loved him because Bruce made Calvin laugh really hard.

Evan thinks my last post was too personal. I don't. Hello! it is how the kid eats. It is perfectly normal. It is like saying "I can't wait until Calvin feeds himself." But whatever. Guess what? I am breastfeeding Calvin right now.

Anyway, I have some posts about the airshow, Calvin opening drawers, and Calvin eating, to make, but I haven't gotten to it due partly to laziness and mostly to the fact that I've been really really tired the past week or so. I've been taking two naps every day but I've still been ready for bed at 8pm. Not that I actually go to bed then. I'm convinced I either must be pregnant, my kidneys are failing, or I have cancer.

It doesn't help that I spent all day Saturday pulling weeds and I can barely bend over to pick up Calvin because my knees and back are so sore.

And we have no food. I ate baby food for breakfast because my eggs tasted gross because we have no ketchup and I rediscovered that I hate cheerios.

Buuuuuuuuuuuuuut, my birthday is on Friday! And Evan has the day off so I get to sleep in. I can't wait. Really.

I am sooo ready to be done breastfeeding Calvin. I'm planning on sticking with it for at least 3 more months though. Eggghhhhhh.
