New shirt for me

Check it out. I made this shirt out of three shirts that I hardly ever wear.

Originally it was supposed to look kinda like this shirt from Anthropologie but all didn't go as planned (as usual).

But I like the end result anyway.

Napping

I thought that when kids switch to one nap a day they are supposed to drop their morning nap. Calvin isn't doing that. His morning nap is an hour later and most days he is dropping his afternoon nap. This is so confusing for me.

A few new foods

I cooked some dry garbanzo beans in the crockpot yesterday and they turned out great. Cooking them in the crockpot is way cheaper than buying canned beans, and I think they even taste a little better too. Here's how to do it if you are curious. I cooked a whole bag of them, used a few to make some delicious hummus with sweet red peppers, froze about half of them, and I'm going to use the rest of them to make some crunchy roasted garbanzo beans.

This morning I also made some wheat thins.
They taste more like the real thing than I would have thought and they are really good with the hummus I made yesterday. Calvin really enjoyed helping me pour and stir the ingredients until he started flinging flour everywhere and was banned from the kitchen.

Some funny stuff about Calvin

Calvin is a very picky eater. Last week he mostly ate strawberries. He threw almost everything else on the floor. Tonight we had pasta salad for dinner and we tricked Calvin into eating a tomato by calling it a strawberry. Bad parenting? Perhaps. We also tricked him into eating pineapple by hiding it behind an olive on a fork.

Most mornings Calvin and I go on a walk up to a certain park where he loves to play while I do sit-ups and stuff. Today he didn't even want to play on the playground. Why? He discovered that birds exist! He spent the whole time looking at the birds in the trees and saying "oooooh! ooooh! oooh!"

Running Timeline

September or October: Went running. Quit after 1/4 mile because I couldn't breathe.

November through March: Did lots of exercise videos.

March: Began going on walks with Calvin to the park at the top of the steep hill. Desired a jogging stroller because sometimes walking was too easy.

March 19: Went running by myself. Made it nearly a whole mile without stopping to catch my breath. Could have kept going. (Finally in shape!) Knee started hurting.

March 20: Knee still hurt. Remembered my knee ALWAYS hurts when I run. Decided we don't need a jogging stroller because I'll never use it.

Alright. Time to start indexing. See ya.

Laundry Day

Here's a video from a week ago when I did our laundry. Calvin loves sorting the clothes with me and putting them into baskets and piles. Some day after he learns how to do it the right way, he is going to be very helpful.

Bye Bye

Remember how I cleaned out our coat closet for Calvin's birthday? Well, he likes playing "bye-bye" in it. Here's a video.

Dinner Last Night

Last night we had pizza for dinner. This one was delicious (to me. Evan's didn't like it that much). This is what was on it: No sauce. Just olive oil and Italian seasoning followed by a very thin layer of cheese, a thick layer of fresh spinach topped by tomatoes, roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts, minced garlic, mozzarella cheese, and asparagus. Yum!
And this one was a bbq chicken pizza.

Though Calvin didn't eat much of the pizza, he sure had a good time at dinner last night. Here's a video of him laughing.

Cover Calvin in Pillows

Since I took away most of Calvin's toys away, we've had to make up some new games to play. One of them is called "Cover Calvin in all the pillows!" Here's a video if it.

Relaxing on the chair

Calvin was watching baby signing time the other day and we found him sitting on the rocking chair with his legs crossed. We thought it was hilarious.

Bath time fun

Calvin learned how to say the word bath (although is sounds more like buh) and he has been crying and standing by the bathroom door if Evan doesn't give him a bath every night right after dinner. Haha

Tonight Evan gave Calvin a no-soap bath and Calvin got to practice drinking out of a cup. Here's the result:

New Chairs

My parents gave us these chairs after we got married when they got a new dining table and chairs. They have been good to us for the past three and a half years, but I decided it was time for a change. I've been looking for new (to us) chairs every time I go to DI but until yesterday, I didn't see anything I liked for the right price.
Here they are! And only $5 a piece.

I only bought three plus a folding chair. Evan thinks that was a mistake, but we only use 3 chairs and I didn't want to have to store the fourth one. Plus, the fourth one was wobbly.
-
Of course I had to spend my personal money (Evan and I each get $15 a month to spend on whatever we want) plus a little Christmas money because Evan didn't think we needed new chairs. So I am selling our old ones to get my money back. Here's the ad if you're interested.

Snow

We got a bunch of snow last week and Calvin and I went sledding a couple of times. Here he is, decked out in his snow clothes including his grocery bag boots. Haha.

Here's a video Evan took of Calvin wearing my boots.

Climber

Calvin learned to climb onto the kitchen chairs on Monday and now he can get to anything. I went to the bathroom the other morning and I was only in there for about a minute and a half, and Calvin had climbed up onto a chair, pulled my phone off the dishwasher, and was calling Evan.
He's been spending his days climbing up onto a chair and looking out the window. I think he is a little scared to get down so he just stays up there for a long time, which is okay with me because I can unload the dishwasher without him grabbing all the knives.

Plus it is a good distraction because he doesn't have very many toys to play with anymore. I took away all of his hard toys because he keeps banging them on the coffee table and making tons of little dents in it.

We ate the sprouts

I didn't tell you guys, but I started growing some wheat sprouts the other day. It only took two days to grow them and I had them for a snack with Italian dressing on them. They are sweet and chewy. We ate the mung bean sprouts yesterday. I put them in some chicken broccoli stir fry and they were pretty good. They certainly didn't grow as big as the bean sprouts you buy from the store, but they were good anyway.
